Muliple TLD Advice

    hey guys,

i've started a website and its very reliant on search engine traffic. I want to know whether it would be a good idea to have separate country TLDs.

im using .com - for a UK audience and is listed well in the search engines. Would it be better to use/change to .co.uk and take a chance, im worried that the site wont get indexed the same and i will lose out but at the sametime its a good move because i can use the domain for the U.S.

    Few concerns i have is:
    1. by having more TLDs makes things more expensive, as for each domain i will have to another account some cost money + registration etc
    2. if i dont change them now i make scupper global growth
    3. if i do change the name again i will only have access to a .com
    4. the domain is 15 characters long, but easy to remember, For direct traffic i dont want to confuse people by having to think of the extension too.

    Possible solutions and questions:
have sub domains - uk.example.com or fr.example.com etc - will google pick that up??
OR should i change them to proper extensions such as .co.uk or .fr
Bear in mind, that if i do change the domain completely, i will have only one option which is .com. Might be a better idea to keep going as i am then add in sub domains and auto redirect. Do spiders need redirection in this case? If the IP address is american then it would get redirected to the US site, therefore none of the other extensions will be spidered?

I want to make the right decision, i have a limited development budget which is why im cautious with buying more TLDs but i will be very reliant on the search engines and i dont want them to turn on me.

    Any advice?
    thanks :D
