I have a client with a Microsoft based rack of servers I just took over. I was horrified that since they've been on the web, about 6 years, none of them have ever had any kind of anti-virus, firewall, nothing between them and the universe. Needless to say, all of them are completely hosed! I have to wipe the disks and start from scratch. Tree of these are Win2003, the rest are 2000 server. One of the machines I have to nuke is the SQL server running MSSQL 2000 on MS Server 2000. I have OS disks, but there does not seem to be any media for the sql server, Got the license paperwork, but no media. Anyone know where I can get media for this that isn't bootleg or worse?
Check ebay. You should be able to find a copy of SQL 2000 but it is still fairly expensive, especially if you need the enterprise version. You may be able to find just the installation disk and no license, but make sure you have the license before you use it. Microsoft's penalties for illegally using their server products are huge.
Yeah watch out. MySQL has big penalties for users that do not use correct software or products. As Jestep says, being a company, you need to be even more carefull. Companies are always looked after.
