I think Google is the best. Also, I think yahoo and msn are pretty much tied.

The most common MSN and Yahoo search term is "Google". Maybe that also says something about their entrench position in the market...

Although Google has it's share of problems I don't think anyone can argue that it's the best search engine.

I am going to get clobbered for this one for sure but here goes..

I found that that for a while Google seemed really broken and every time I would do searches for my industry that the top SERPS in Google would be crammed full of .edu pages and .gov pages. The others were articles surrounded by nothing but Adsense. For about 2 months it seemed I couldn't find what I needed. I started using Yahoo but their results seemed to fluctuate a bunch (which is fine I suppose) but when I was trying to do research on my industry, the only SE that came back with relevant results was the new MSN Live.

I began using MSN Live as my first choice SE for a few weeks and started really enjoying tracking my progress with all of my sites. The index may not be as bg as Google and Yahoo but it was a wonderful place to begin learning SEO and easily tracking all of my results and those of my competition.

I also think that one of my sites was sandboxed by Yahoo for a while...thats right, I said Yahoo! I know Google is said to have a sandbox but I began suspecting that Yahoo did too. It was really weird.

I am back to using Google about as much as I use the new MSN search. Google still rules in the PPC but I have seen much more consistent results with MSN over the last 4 months or so than I have seen with Google and Yahoo. My vote at this time would be that I like all three but all for different reasons.

I personally use google, but you'd be amazed at how many of the less technical people have yahoo toolbar/messenger/homepage on their PC.

Props to you for going against the grain on this one. Personally I just can't find anything on MSN... maybe it's just me? Everyone has their fav search though

As for me, I like yahoo for its relevancy and google for its image/video search and also because they rank my sites the best :)

I think google is the best overall.. but there was a time, I would be using yahoo as I liked the concept of having directories of stuff I am looking for in the Net. Probem was that they started to get fancy and lost their focus. With their latest search technology, Panama, it looks like they are clear now on what they want to do. Search-wise, Google is still the best, but for the whole internet experience, my money is on Yahoo :)
