MSN Vs. Live

In my analytics tool I get results for MSN and Live when tracking search referral. Any idea why this is? I always thought if I went to MSN and searched I was searching off of the Live engine.

Anyone else see this in their data?

I don't know, but I am kind of confused too - lately I have been getting loads of referrals supposedly from Live.com, but if I try to search for the keywords that were supposedly used then my site doesn't even show in the rankings for those terms. So I am not even sure if these are genuine searches, or some kind of bot activity?

P.S. Aha, I get it now - they ARE live.com bot visits, but my stats program doesn't recognise them as a bot, bit sneaky that, the agent string doesn't say anything...

Strange way to do indexing - it seems to be taking keywords and testing them out!

I am getting searches from Live and MSN.

My stats program treats each as a seperate search engine. :)

Strange, the Live bot seems to test out keywords on your site somehow. I am sure this has already been noticed, but I never realised it before, I thought they were genuine referrals, never paid them much attention because there were just a few a day, but had like 50 in the space of a few minutes today so thought something strange was going on. Anyone know what that's all about?
