Probably a basic question...but why does submitting a search for link:www. site. com come up with different results in MSN or Google. I had heard that Google's back link tool was broken, but that was months ago. Thoughts?
Google only shows sample of back links. But why different results...... Google interprets the querry as you write. say- When you write link:www.site.com than google shows a sample for domain with www And if you search link:site.com than it shows a sample links for the domain without www One que- What is difference between link:www.site.com [without space between link: and www.site.com] and link: www.site.com [with space between link: and www.site.com] ??
I have no idea...If you are referring to how I put the url in the first post, I was just trying to break up the URL so it didn't show in the post. Other than that, I think the proper syntax is link:www.mysite.com with no space. Thanks for the response. BTW, I just checked one of my sites and it has 65 back links showing in MSN, and 9 in Google. That is quite the range, but I guess that if Google is only showing a small portion of the links, then it makes sense. So then the question is....how do I make sure I see ALL my backlinks?
I am not sure why but 5 months and google have not picked up any back links for my site but MSN have done a great job on this regard. I don't know but I am starting to like MSN search results now....couple of years back I used to hate MSN search but they have improved way too much it showes they are damn serious about search.
If you search for link: www.mysite.com then you are searching for the work "link:" and "www.mysite.com" rather than links to www.mysite.com.
Use Yahoo and/or MSN's link command for checking links, Google has been reporting inaccurate backlinks for sometime now. * Send me a PM for a motorcycle link exchange if interested cheers
