Man I'd love to know that. Since the algo change my sites have dropped out of the top 5 positions onto pages 9999+.

I checked the new top 2 sites for one of my keyphrases, and I find ...

    1st site:
Keyprase used exactly once, as a navigation link.
It does not appear in any title, meta, h1, alt, bold, underline, etc.

    2nd site:
Keyphrase used exactly twice, once in title and once on-page. It's one of those clickbank type pages with 100% advertising. This site appears 5 times within the first 50 matches too.

I'm just about resigned to the fact that there's not much I can do to compete under this new algo.

the msn algo messed up big, and unexpectedly and thats why may be bill gates backed off for good. So if your site is not showing up in msn, dont considor any problem with your site. I dropped from first page results. But the search.msn.co.uk is working fine now -- You should better check the status of your website in the eyes of msn on search.msn.co.uk

That's one thing that really irritates me. On all the other MSN sites (India, Arabia, UK, etc) I'm number 1 for some of my major keywords. On the plain-old-MSN I'm nowhere.

The UK results look much better. Instead of being on page 5, which I now am in msn, my site is #5 for my main keyword. Interesting......

MSN's new algo seems to favor keywords in the URL and the Title Tag. Not just once in those places but as many times as you can fit it. I aint about to make any changes to rank for the new algo and then lose my rankings in the other SEs who hold way more market share.

I believe the new algo has got something to do with this? Wonder if msn will use back their previous algo.

    hi everyone,
i have followed up with psynaut on his issues with our support team but i wanted to share some targeting info for those of you who are located in countries other than Singapore, France, or the U.S., where adCenter has launched.

you may target any country -- if the end user navigates to the U.S. search site. For example, the end-user is in Canada. Instead of searching on http://search.sympatico.msn.ca/, the Canadian end user navigates to http://search.msn.com/ (the U.S. MSN Search site). The end-user will then be able to see the ad. if the end-user searches on http://search.sympatico.msn.ca/, they will see Overture ads in the results since adCenter has not launched in Canada.

some other things to take into consideration if you can't see your ad but you're seeing impressions and clicks in your reports:
    1. rotations - your ad doesn't show every time, we space it out during the day depending on your daily budget
    2. budget - your ads will stop running once you hit your max budget.
    3. ad performance - adCenter has different thresholds based on CTR, bid amount, and some other factors to help us measure the relevance and value of an ad. this performance is measured against other ads competing for the same keyword, so as more advertisers compete, probability of an ad being displayed may be reduced.

    hope this helps -
    thanks!

i agree, one of my sites im optimised for msn, ranked for months then msn dropped it, but im now getting double traffic from yahoo using the same optimisation, so i dont think ill be spamming my title tag for a few extra visits.

My site is showing on the internation msn search engine but it is doing diddley in msn.co.uk

Maybe becuase my site is hosted on a US server? Does this mean that if my site is not doing well on co.uk then that will also have a negative effect on the international website?

Sounds to me like the msn search is kind of inconsistent in its rankings and searching.
