I know google and yahoo are way in front in terms of people using their search engines, but are there really that few people using MSN search. I mean internet explorer defaults to MSN. MSN is 2nd on Alexa. Why is traffic so low for the search then. I have 10+ sites that have first page SERPs (most of them top position) for main keywords (multiple for each sites). But the traffic is non-existant. Less than Wikipedia links
the traffic on sub domains is counted toward the domain itself the alexa details reveal reasons from where the actual domain traffic comes from # hotmail.msn.com - 75% # search.msn.com - 7% # spaces.msn.com - 7% # msn.com - 2% # msnbc.msn.com - 1% # arabia.msn.com - 1% # latam.msn.com - 1% # moneycentral.msn.com - 1% # Other websites - 5% it may be save to assume that many of the subdomain visitors such as spaces and others never even touch msn main site or search msn search being 7 % only that would give msn search on a separate domain far less than alexa 2 or 3 rank my own msn traffic is so low than even minor search engines might do better or a good link in a good forum brings more traffic than msn
Do you think MSN traffic for their search will skyrocket after they officially release MSN LIVE? they claim to have very big plans in future with LIVE
Links from an Internet Search Engine - Full list - MSN 741 766 - Google 227 227 - Yahoo 46 46 ===== it could be the young age of my site that has MSN on top because i am no where in the SERPs on google or the fact that the people interested in my topic use MSN. I hope for the day when I can say those 700 hits from MSN mean nothing to me. JS
I have read some logs that suggest that demographics play a big role. MSN search may well appeal to a bit older, feminine base of users.
