I think MSN just doesn't have the dataset that google's got yet.
They'll get smarter as they go. MSN shows more newer sites, and MSN itself isn't really old enough to have their own sandbox yet, but I bet they will :)

Everyone here seems to have top spots on msn for their keywords. My question is this:
If msn is so easy to optimize for, why don't others have the same top spots? It seems to me that neighborhoods play a role as well, such as being connected with members of this and some other forums thru targeted linking etc.

The trouble with msn is that it is irrattic. Too many rankings rise and fall. It takes time to build real quality content and requires funding (from traffic) over time. If the rankings fly up and down alot then it is too unreliable to build any kind of business model on, even if the traffic was much greater.

Me neither may be coz he has a KW #1 on MSN but as the KW is searched 0.01 per day he get no traffic and it's MSN/Google/Yahoo's fault...

It's easy to blame MSN as its owner is very well known:p

I use to think the same when I was holding the top spots. However now I am on page two - so I have more respect for MSN now. Give it time and your opinion will change ;)

They are fairly new the the Seach Engine game, give them time to work out the little things.

I am quite 'happy' with their current search engine. The results are usually different than Google searches for the same terms and that gives me just enough variety when I want to see different results.

As for 'gaming' them... why is anyone gaming any of the SE's anymore? Have we learned nothing? Just grab your lunchbox, follow the rules and go to work...

As much as i like msn for its ease in top rankings, it is dissapointing that #3 for the term "cheapest Ringtones" can only give 2 uniques a day.

I would rather be on page 6 for google on that term. But what can you expect for a site that is 1 week old with no links. :):)
