VERY scary. I'm ranked high in MSN and Yahoo, always have been, and Google just unbanned me last month, and I'm stuck in the sandbox, but I am still getting more from Google while sandboxed than MSN/Yahoo combined. Very, very scary indeed. The vast number of people using Google to search compared to MSN/Yahoo is astounding. I don't care what articles or links Google-haters provide -- Google is the friggin king of traffic right now.
I think that the approach is wrong here, instead of saying "Google is still the best" we should use MSN and encourage others to do so. It does more for us we sould do more for it. I know that many are anti-microsoft, but what is Google doing that Microsoft didn't? Is it not trying to dominate everything? Is it not just using others ideas and calling it innovation? I personally try to use MSN as often as I can, I still find my self (out of habit) going for Google, but why should I use a search engine that isn't favorable to me?
When looking for information I find Teoma gives the very best results (relevance based content). If looking for anything else, Google is just fine. I find that you can get tripe back from information searches, due to the "commercial flavoured" skewing on Google.
I hve registered realestatetenerife.net few days back and its on top on MSN with few keywords and nowhere in google.. so according to me.. its the URL which plays important part in msn rankings.
Honestly i never liked to make a search on MSN, i never find what im looking for, i dont know maybe im used to google because its the onl search engine i use...I think google is king of search engines.
My site has been going for 2 months approx & ranks top 10 for a tank load of keywords on msn. Msn generates 0 traffic however. Rank 1st on google for 2 keywords, 'I Am Skill' being one of them which generates about 20 million results if you google it, so domain name is definitely a major part in ranking. Both msn & google have indexed site a fair bit, with google visiting virtually every day. Yahoo is a lazy whore & indexes once every full moon. Msn rocks for getting a ranking but sucks for traffic.
I have to agree with other posters; good MSN rankings does unfortunately not equal good traffic. I would love to see MSN grab some more market share when it comes to online search... Geir
Being someone who doesn't have hardly any traffic, I'm stoked with MSN...everyday they send me visits for terms I never even imagined I'd get visits for. I'm sure this will change over time but for now seeing that G and YH don't help me I'm happy that MSN is there for us new people.
around 90%+ of my traffic comes from google, and the rest from yahoo and msn(1 to 2%). and the funniest part is, the one that comes from MSN is ...totally irrelavent traffic. Ie, people search for some keywords, and some how they end up on my page!
