Is it just me or does MSN seem to be getting a little smarter? :D

What do you mean? I see big changes in they rankings but I'm not so sure they are becoming smarter...a good number of crappy sites are going down (in the results) but the new top ten for some keywords are full of new crap instead of old crap

Some things that I watch closely indicate they are getting better..... I guess it just looks like some sites that belong are starting to appear where they should.. from what I am seeing...

They may be improving, which is good to see, but they've still got a long way to go to catch up with the some of the others.

I still don't like what I see most of the time.

I don't think they're getting smarter yet. I just launched another site about two weeks ago and its already ranking top 5 for some of my main keywords.

I don't necessarily agree that the google way of not ranking new sites for months is 'smarter'.

Are you talking about a MSN sandbox? Yes, it takes some time to apprear your website in MSN search results. It inherited that approach from Google.

These search engines like sandboxes too much. Well it is obvious all search engines are improving.

However, i am sure their aim is to be at the top when Vista launches. MS faced tougher competitors than Google in the past.

With the irregularities in MSN placement... you kinda get the idea of why Google spends so much time in the sandbox. They obviously value consistency more than MSN at this point.

I still find MSN is the easiest search enging to obtain quick rankings. However, I am still amazed at the number of crappy sites that still dominate.

They really need to work on that. Most of these sites are just cash parking lots and do not have any real content.

May have something to do with the fact that M$ is now (very recent news) a domain name registrar. They now have real access, and perhaps they are using info retrieved from domain name records to give more weight to domains that have been registered beyond a year, a la G. Makes sense, as the vast majority of spammers don't register domain names beyond a year.

Now, about all those blogspot splogs MSN/Live.com seems to like...

    As always, IMO.

easy for high rankings in my opinion but it doesn't mean much as it doesn't have such a big user base which is a shame :(

I don't know if they are improving or not. But from my experience, msn is slow to index a site compared to yahoo and google.

too many crappy sites to waid through.. probably that's pone reason they have a smaller user base compared to G or Y
