Hey Just wondering what relation is MSN in the SERP ...as I created some new sites and they rank well in MSN, its the first search engine to put them up in the SERP's. Then it likely drops places and other search engines begin to rank them well.... Is this something that other ppl have in common? Have you guys found out best practices to keep your site on top in MSN LIVE?
I can never understand MSN, compared to Google, Google has consistent results, MSN it really depends and can fluctuate a lot. One worse thing is what works in Google may have an opposite effect in MSN ranking
From my experience its takes lot of time ranking well on MSN. If you have a good number of pages with long tail keywords it works little better.
Yeah I have always found MSN to be the same dead easy to get high at the start but then as time goes by I drop off in MSN and do better in Google and Yahoo.
MSN is using other algorithm for there SERP which is very different from Google and Yahoo. Google and Yahoo are at some point similar as algorithm. when you optimize your website for SE you use some techniques that are more for google, and this is the reason you have well ranked in G and poorly in MSN.
MSN and Yahoo could be very frustrating as per ranking on SERPS. Here are few things I noticed: - Targeting long tail keywords work better - More the number of pages better in rank - Domain name with keyword are credited more on Yahoo and MSN compared to Google
Thats why I normally target G optimization rather than MSN, you can't have the best of both worlds I guess?
