MSN Search featured in new hit movie.. The Island

Discussion in 'Bing' started by yo-yo, Jul 22, 2005.

I just watched 'The Island' and msn (among many, many other companies) had their logo plastered on the screen, and the main characters using a futuristic search screen with MSN plastered on it...

Movies are becoming big commercials :D I wonder how many millions it cost MSN to put that in there ...

Reminds me of an episode of Two and a half men where they start "googling" a name...

    It's called product placement.
See Shark Tale for an over-the-top example!

    (Feat. 'GUP', 'Coral Cola' etc.)

that's the difference between pixar and non-pixar children's movies. You can tell which ones were cranked out with little interest beyond profit.

I love pixar. I'm not ashamed to say that I've been to virtually every animated film they've produced.

Pixar's films are pretty much always entertaining for adults and children alike.
There's no shame at all in seeing their films- they're great!

I saw an episode of CSI where they used Google to find some information to help solve the crime. Wonder what Google payed for that.

Don't know if still true, but sometime in the last year, a report said that the total amount Google had spent on radio/TV advertising was ... ZIPPO!

It's kind of funny because the book Brave New World is about Big Brother and stuff....When my friend first told me that Microsoft was in the movie, I found it really strange, as the correlation between Microsoft and big brother is clear..Appearing in the movie, would simply confirm the vision Microsoft has of the future...

After I saw the movie, I understood. The movie has almost nothing to do with the book...I was sure Billy could not be that dumb!

"To google" is so generic that they don't need to pay for product placement. On the othe hand, "to msn" or "to yahoo" would probably require payment.

The funny thing was that they were looking up information on a possible suspect and just typed the name in Google.
