thats some weird behavious from msn, I didn't know they were so strict.

I guess your deletion means they want to ban every link-selling website as well, wich means about 30% of all large websites..

One of my sites was deindexed for about 3 times, and then it was reindexed without any questions to msn support. Now this is happening again, and i am just going to wait for reindexation.

Amazing! It almost sounds as if you're "caught in a loop". It's also kind of surprising that they don't just tell you what they're interpreting as spam, as well. Making you ask again would seem to add up to more work for them...

Looking forward to the next installment. :)

I have not received a reply from MSN Webspam as of today, June 12, 2006. This is my final update. This thread is listed as 45 days old as of today. I was de-indexed two weeks prior to me starting this thread, so it has been about 60 days of zero traffic from MSN.

This is the final update, because I am no longer able to use it as a controlled test. What I mean by 'controlled test' is this: I have not changed the site in any form except what MSN Webspam has requested. I need to make new changes to the site to become more competitive on other search engines. Also, I will be adding links on the site. I will probable add them in a Sponors or Partners Section in the right or left hand column, but I will add them nevertheless.

I have not completely given up on one day having the site re-included in MSN Search, but this is my site and I have to do what is best for this site and my network of websites overall. I also have to except the fact that it may never be re-included in MSN Search and move on. To clarify, my website is now listed when you type site:mydomainname.com in MSN Search, but MSN Search excludes it from keyword searches. If someone is looking for my site on MSN, they now can find it. There are presently six page listed when typing site:mydomainname.com into MSN Search, and I thank MSN Webspam for that.

It's pretty funny how successful this website had become on MSN Search. I was getting use to it, but it was unexpected. Just to give you and idea, this site was listed as number one for two minor keywords in the financial industry. The website was starting to show up on the first page for several major keywords when it was de-indexed two months ago. The website was generating $xxx to $x,xxx per month on 25 - 45 clicks per day from MSN Search for past six months. It was making low $x,xxx at the time it was de-indexed.

I hope to improve on a #45 listing in another search engine to maybe one day realize the same level of success again. The keyword is specific (just look at a top paying keyword list - it is one of those) and I am competing against Fortune 100 websites to do it. The great thing about MSN Search was that a little guy could compete against the big boys.

It is very difficult in the other search engines to compete for these high paying industries with a new or small website. This site is now a 800 pound gorilla, and it may be possible to at least reach the second page on the other major search engines now. MSN Search had been very good to me, and I thank them. I would have never expanded and developed this site to the point it is without the success achieved on MSN Search. I have actually built the site up over the past year to the point it may be possible to compete on other search engines although it was geared toward MSN (I monitored each change made to the website with disregard to the other search engines each day for the past year, ie. keywords density, backlinks, title, tags, etc.).

I have learned a lot from this experience. I hope you, the reader of this thread, has gotten something from it too.

    Regards,
    krjewellers

I am very sorry to hear this and I say don't touch it for a bit more.

One of my sites was de-indexed about 2 months, then they index it but it wasn't on SERP for about 1 month or more. From 2 weeks ago it is back. So the same might happen to yours.

By the way, after reading this topic I did send them an email, they never contacted me and I don't know if it had any effect or not.

    Hey KR,

Thanks for a very informative thread - I'm sorry that it didn't have a happier ending, but perhaps ultimately it will. I think you're taking the right approach by building your website on your terms, and for your visitors, and I'm sure that you'll reap greater benefits in the long run.

I believe that MSN adCenter has a presence here at DP (user name 'adCenter411', if I'm not mistaken) - if you haven't already, you may want to send a PM to see if he or she could do some campaigning on your behalf. :)

    Best,
    Sam

Man I think you are out of luck but not totally out of luck. Get your site included in bcentral as its the best thing you can do right now or a free alternative, search for the particular domain which is not listed in msn, a page will come up saying that the page your looking for cannot be found. On the same page click on the link saying "If you cannot find a page that you know exists, send the address to us". Vola. Your page will be indexed in no time. But it aint gonna help your in your listing, I repeat it aint gonna help you in SERP of msn; as the current msn has freaked everybody out, so that makes it an another problem.

Contact them more than twice. Still they don't reply, keep calling them for your websites inclusion for a month(same scenario for all search engines).

Great advice - you get removed from the index for spamming, so you spam them to get back in.

Found your thread quite interesting to read. Thanks for sharing your process with MSN Search with us. I noticed that after being in MSN serps for a few years that in the recent few weeks although my site wasn't de-indexed by MSN it seems to have dropped around 2K listings for reasons I have not been able to surmize up to this point. No real changes to my content so it's a bonafide mystery to me...

I'd be interested to know if there has been any happy conclusion to your story on re-indexing with MSN..?

Also would be interested in anyone else's experience with Serp listings dropping in and out and hopefull back in again with MSN..?

    Hi michael_angeloh,

MSN Webspam has not replied to my e-mail. There has been no change in the status of the site. I no longer get any traffic from MSN Search for this website. I am no longer attempting to resolve this problem with MSN Webspam. I hope you have more success resolving your issue. Best of luck.

    Sincerely,
    krjewellers

    Aloha Krjewellers,

I'm sorry to hear that. Kinda disappointing after the effort you put forth. Perhaps it'll pay off eventually. I hope you're traffic in Google & Yahoo might help to make up some of the difference. I'll let you know if I fair any better with MSN or as some have stated WTF...
    Good luck my friend...

    Hi Everyone,

I did not plan to update this thread again, but I received an e-mail reply from MSN Webspam today. It is a reply to my May 4, e-mail requesting reinclusion. This is not a reply to my June 2, e-mail asking for specific examples of Spam on my website. I previously received a reply to a second follow-up e-mail dated May 19, requesting status on my reinclusion request sent May 4, that email stated I was using spam techniques on my website.

Confused? Let me make this very clear, this is a reply to my original reinclusion e-mail dated May 4, 2006, sent after I removed the links that were considered spam by MSN Search. I received this reply today, July 7, 2006:

Unfortunately, the other sites participating in the link exchange are still linking to you and we can’t re-include your site in the index until these links are removed as it will inflate your ranking inappropriately.

    MSN Search

*Special Note: all the links on this website that I removed were to other site belonging to me. There were five lesser-developed sites and three blogs. These links were buried deep within the site and most links were two clicks from homepage. This website was not at the time and is not presently part of a link network.

I do have sites that are in one of the two most popular webmaster-advertising networks. One or the other, but I have sites in both networks. This site is not one of them. None of the sites that are in these advertising networks has been banned from MSN or any other search engine at this time

    Sincerely,
    krjewellers

So MSN admits that competitors can ruin our rank by buying lots of spam links.

So sooner or later we will see sites that charge us to remove links rather than placing a link to us.

Seems the only way is that you leave your site and create a duplicate.

This topic is a shame to MSN algo.

I am having a similar problem. I ranked quite well for many keywords and phrases for awhile and then as soon as July 1st came MSNbot stop crawling my site which it previoulsy crawled daily for a long time.

My site still shows up using site: command except that they removed some pages and my site will not show up for any keywords at all, so now I receive 0 traffic from MSN when I used to get quite a bit before July.

Im not involved in any spam or bad linking so i have no clue what happened. I e-mailed but never received a response as of yet.
    Not sure what to do.

I wonder if MSN believes that those sites participate in link spamming why not deindexing them instead of deindexing target sites?

MSN are doing an index update - which happens anytime during annually.. so a lot of websites are dropping out of index, even the visits by MSN BOT are rare or almost NIL to these websites. I have seen this happen a few times in previous years so keep up ur chin - u may be #1 when ur website returns.

krjewellers : I feel sad that you are indexed but have lost ur ranking - have a question for ya : Does link:youdomain provide u with any links on MSN, as obviously you must be having quite a lot before being deindexed? If a website is re-indexed it is treated like a new website and the links are added back again.. so you will have to be patient till you recv ur rankings back.

    Hi max pain,

I just checked, and there are nine pages indexed of about 280. The maximum pages indexed by MSN in the past were 446 although I have never had more than about 300 on this website.

max pain, I hope you are right and I recover my ranking; however, this is a unique situation and I have outlined why in my prior posts. I believe this website will be released one day. The internet is still changing very rapidly, so I believe this opportunity has expired. I followed up on this to learn what I could and share that with other webmasters, i.e. DP members. The website was not a complete waste after all because I did learn quite a bit, and I have made some appropriate changes.

    Regards,

Don't worry about MSN. Google and Yahoo have a larger audience.
You can always create a mirror site and have that mirror site indexed on MSN if you absolutely want to show on the MSN search engine.
