I see DP forum as #4 for the "search engines" phrase lol no search engines though. I think this affected some results - not everything. All my main keyphrases that were on the first page are below 100+ and a few of them already gone below 200 - the last keyphrase that still was #1 yesterday is two dosen results down, the others going down dosen results every day. MSN was pretty steady for all my sites - about 11-15% of the traffic, Yahoo was a little higher and the rest by Google. G and Y! are doing better every day right now - MSN is doing something different...
Hey Rob, don't ruin my joke by getting real on me man Remember, they are "just threads man", not WWIII.......
I see very strange results for some of my searches - some of them completely irrelevant, and others are pretty consistent.
This month (so far): Google 71.3 % Google (Images)15.2 % Yahoo 8.5 % Ask Jeeves 1.9 % MSN 1.2 % Down by 0.2% from last month
i see a difference in #s this month compared to last month as well. This Month: (so far) Yahoo 31.6 % Google 27.1 % Google (Images) 18.7 % MSN 16.7 % Last Month: Google 34.8 % Yahoo 29.6 % MSN 18.3 % Google (Images) 10.5 % Well ok, now that I spit out the number that way it doesn't seem like much of a drop. So maybe we are just about the same, but getting better rankings in Google so Google's % jumped up. My bad.
I can only guess, but I think it's because Yahoo actually updated their index of our site faster when we did a complete remodel/changed file names & extensions and did 301 redirects. MSN was also very quick to update. Google was about the same as far as bot visiting goes, but it seems that they left our old pages in the SERPs a little longer than Y! and MSN, thus when the old pages were gone/301'd they didn't update to the new page as quick. But we are climbing back up and we are seeing better G ranks so far this month. So we'll see.
There is just too much stuff on the MSN homepage. They should make it simpler, perhaps not quite as simple as google but at least as intuitive and visually appealing as Yahoo.
Gotta agree with that, people who are used to using Google go searching for the search page at MSN , it just doesn't look right. Same with Yahoo. Theres just too much other stuff on there. I think the search page should be a dedicated search page without anything else cluttering it up.
Well you might be right but I think that Yahoo shouldn't be an example for how MSN could look like. I like the MSN design a lot more than the Yahoo one although I agree that both sites have too many features on the start page which no one will probably ever use all together. It should be easier to make a personal homepage on MSN.
Guys, you need to keep in mind that Yahoo and MSN are not pure Search Engines, but portals - search wasn't their main concern comparing to Google.
