Very interesting read. MSN's algorythm seems so much more transparent, and less subject to change, which obviously makes it easier to rank higher faster.

Yes this can be true as well, but for certain keywords I have moved to the top within weeks and stayed within a few spots of the top for months and months. Others, a QUICK jump to the first page, then back to the 2nd page a week later.

Thanks for the article. I am having real trouble ranking fast for my keyword phrases. Can anyone take a look at one of my websites and see what I might be doing wrong? Please PM if you can help me.

Usually it takes me a couple of months to rank well on the first page of MSN. I usually get the hompage indexed quickly (1-2 days) using their "send the address to us" form and the full site will get indexed in a month or so. Then it can take up to 3 months for my site to make it to page one. :(

If someone could lend me a hand I would realy appreciate it.

    Sig

If you optimize for Google, you optimize for MSN by default. Your MSN ranking will just be higher! LOL.

What are you talking about buddy?

Anyways, back to the article.... I don't see anything new from the article actually, basically that's all you have to do when you build a site.

But there's one thing about msn in the article

I don't know if this is correct or not, but you might be right and this could also cause you a problem if you are the older site ;)

Indeed, well established sites can realax a bit more as far as Google and Yahoo are concerned, but with MSN there is always some new kid on the block who is building links like crazy that you have to watch out for, this is why I feel that MSN optimization is more difficult then alot of people say it is, sure it might be easy to rank for some obscure search phrase, but to rank for no.1 for SEO and then maintain that position is a different story, there are just as many websites competing on MSN as there is on Google and Yahoo, how can it be easier? It can't, it just has a different algo, domain age and trust are not a factor.

    Exactly.

That article is pretty much a dead duck. There are 0 unique techniques mentioned in the post that can aid your ranking for MSN.
