I dont no but i have seen MSN ads on scribd http://www.scribd.com/doc/2200920/Make-Money-Online-For-Free-
it's been open to select publishers for beta testing for several months now. It has some great features and I think that once it goes public it will be a great alternative to adsense.
Thanks shree, nice to see. I see that scribd is using cookies to control the ads. I saw the MS ads the first time, then, every time thereafter, it was Google ads, using either refresh, or reload. Then, I cleared my cookies. There were the MS ads again, on first serving. So, it looks like scribd is doing a limited, real-time A/B test. I think that is smart, since they are testing a known good program against an as yet unknown program. It would be nice to see the report of the results. . .
All sites are checked manually for quality. you can apply here: https://advertising.microsoft.com/publisher
Also, it is for PC users only. There is no support for Macintosh or Linux. Standard M$ mode of operation. They think "Internet" means "M$ only". They want to take over everything. "If it ain't M$, then it ain't Internet". It is exactly this kind of arrogant egomania that guarantees their failure in the contextual advertising market. You can thank Steve Ballmer. The cluelessness goes all the way to the top. . .
Well that's odd because I use nothing but Macintosh and i've been using the system for over 6 months now.. Please post a link to your source, or give us more info on how you arrived at this conclusion - because I just aint see'in it..
I am here to eat my words. Ummmm, yummy. Tearabite challenged me here, and rightfully so. Alas, I cannot find the post. As closely as I can remember, it said - Windows, 1GB RAM and IE6 or better. But, if I can't show it . . . (I did see it, I really did!) Moot point. If Terabite says "Mac is fine", that is good enough for me. Of course, all this wondering nonsense could be avoided if MS would simply STATE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR PUBCENTER!!! and stop making us wonder. The most basic questions of all - WHAT PLATFORMS AND WHAT SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS? - remains officially unanswered. Or maybe it is hidden away somewhere. And what about browsers? Any old browser? . .
FOUND IT! I am NOT crazy! Here it is - http://www.webmasterworld.com/msn_adcenter/3903137.htm in which Brian AdCenter says - Windows only! Internet Explorer only! So there! Can I help it, if that is what an official MS employee said, and I simply quoted him? Ha-ha! So, is he wrong, or simply giving 1/2 the story? Like so many other aspects of the program, I don't think that they have gotten their story straight, yet. Just like the "list of countries" - they put it up, and then took it right down within days. I know they COULD have all the resources they need, but DO THEY? I think their planning may have been inadequate, and they haven't thought about all the things that they need to think about, BEFORE starting up. <edit>I just noticed that this applies to the adCenter Desktop. Is there a "PubCenter Desktop", which has less stringent requirements? When do we get to know? . .
There is no pubCenter desktop (yet, at least); although there is a pubCenter Earnings Widget which displays your current earnings as a widget on your desktop - and it runs only on Vista; So, just to clarify for everyone: There are no PC/Server/Browser requirements to use pubCenter. You access your account, configure your ads, etc via (any) web-browser and paste your code into your site - exactly like any other PPC network. The ads display on virtually all browsers, just like any other PPC network ads..
A lot of you will be happy to hear that Microsoft is moving forward with this. They have announced the public beta testing stage for US publishers. http://www.adcentercommunity.com/blogs/pubcenter/fullpostlist.aspx
