MSN loves me, but the man I really want is Google.

    Hey all,

I've had this site http://www.workingholidayinfo.com up for about a year in varying levels of completeness. Some pages are still missing content (which I'm slowly filling in) but there are plenty of complete pages for the search engines to grab onto.

MSN seems to really like it but Google isn't really anywhere to be seen besides some really obscure, complex searches. I had a crack at Sitemaps but got confused somewhere along the way.

I'm working on getting more inbound links but was wondering if anyone has any other advice for me on how to make Google love me?

    Thanks,
    Kirsty

You can't press someone to love you, but you can try to attract him/her so that he/she fall in loves. Google loves backlinks. So give him some backlinks and impress. May be he fall in love with you(r site). ;)

MSN is easy to get listed on.

You have more links and images than content, Google likes articles. It also looks like you could use a bit better SEO. Try taking a look at the SEO section first. I don't know why but I feel bombarded with links with I visit your page. :(

Ok thanks! Good advice... I've got a lot of info up there but it's the sort of info where there'll be a government page to link to with the 'official' scoop. Maybe I'll link less to those and put more stuff on my own pages. Articles are on their way too so hopefully that'll help.

    That's helpful, cheers.

Ya ya ya, I know the cliches but does anyone have any specifics? I guess I'm just looking for anything I'm doing really wrong. The links and content thing is something I'm working on but it is a slow process for me due to laziness.

MSN's a bad boy...it'll follow all new sites like .....

Ok..anyhow...getting indexed on google definately takes some time. In the meantime put highly original content on your site, get some good links, find many other sources of traffic and sit back and relax...:)
