I was thinking the same thing Shawn. I like the results too much for them to be quality... I thought the search for "seo" was pretty weird too.
I wish every engine had different rules, completely. MSN beta makes some people look good, Google makes others. That's how it should be in my book. What is the point of different search engines if you get the same results?
The results are probably how we 'feel' they should be, then they will drop us all and put up the non-optimized but no more relevant sites that are there now.
Will it ever roll out - would be nice as a keyword I would love to be listed under on MSN is 13 and raising
Ditto other people's comments about how I wish Microsoft would put this into production now - www.komar.org ranks very well for a handful of terms I just tried ... and yea, the "link:" command is kinda interesting to play around with - definately a different "cut" than Google, and I saw some entries in there that were "just" a few weeks old ... so at least they are being semi-recent with updates.
It doesn't matter when they roll it out... It won't be big until longhorn... When that is released, then we will start to see some serious traffic from it... And I am looking forward to that
Not till longhorn? That's forever away. Not that I care since I'm on a Mac but i'd still like the engine out sooner than that.
Just looked at it for the first time. I'm not sure I like it?? I'm doing worse there then in Google. And that's a hard thing to do. :0 And for one of my terms it's returning over 10,000,000 results where Google only returns 514,000. I like their links though. They show 512 vs Googles 55. The current MSN search only shows 23 links though. :-(
I too love these results. I do think the results are actually good now, on terms of relevance. Even for keywords I don't optimize for -- it returns results that seem as decent as Googles. You have to give Microsoft a pat of the back for the speed of development on this... Its true it most likely won't be a major contender to G until the release of Longhorn.
wow....do you think that MSN has finally figured out how to give the user the results they'd like to see......is that what they call "perceptual mapping"? we're #1 for everything also.....way better than other places. let's enjoy it if it actually stays like this and for as long as it lasts....
No, search engines use hubs as starting points to launch their spiders (gotta start somewhere) I'd say MSN just has Digital Point in their start list.
I really like the results. I'm number 7 out of 255 Million results for a main keyword. And, the results are great. It includes exactly the sites I'd put if I was the editor of this keyword. All the authority sites listed first plus mine.
