MSN Has a very interesting algorithm. My PR0 is listed 3rd under an exceedingly popular keyword in MSN results, purely based on the fact I used the word a bunch on my website. Anyone else find that MSN is giving to much weight to keywords, and not enough to backlinks? Perhaps this is a way of combating manipulation of search results from webmasters buying links.
I know. One of my older sites got the first spot on MSN Search in about a week over the sites that have been there for ages, but now with my new site I can't get it on there at all. MSN scares me.
Well, ive never had probelms with MSN, indexed very high for all my keywords, but I just dont get many visitors from MSN, I dont think its that popular anyway so dont pay much attention.
I think that ranking sites based on links rather than keywords were essential to google's success. Taking in several factors and weighting them accordingly is google's current strategy. Of course, we are all waiting on 'semantic web' type searches where we can define the context of our search... we still have a ways to go though
