MSN giving away prizes for searching?

I've recently noticed that on the nineMSN web page they have offered a new incentive for searching.. now if you search a 'pokie' type thing appears and you can win prizes.. They give out the prizes randomly every 15 mins.. I'm not sure if I'm the only person to notice this, or if NineMSN is only accessible in Australia. But here is the link http://search.ninemsn.com.au/Default.aspx
Just search for the fun to begin lol.

This is a desperate move to compete with Google :)

Yeah, I agree.. they've probably noticed that their search engine results are continually dropping and need to take fast action.

Looking at the terms and conditions -
Its only for australian residents, have to be over 18
starting from 12pm on 3rd june 2008 and ending midnight on 29th july 2008.

"A user is allowed to submit a maximum of 10 entries and win a maximum of 10 prizes through the Secret Search competition."
Don't know what they mean by that, does that mean only 10 searches allowed or you can only win a max off 10 prizes

It's a good strategy actually... if the prizes were available worldwide, I'd definitely start searching on MSN instead of other search engines. And I think a lot of people would do the same :)

If msn really want to do something, make their algo strong like google which display quality result like google. then people like to search.

The fact is Microsoft cannot compete with Google in the search field what it needs is: to beat it in everything else!!

Cos for search Nothing is better than Google!!
