for one of my sites last month i had 307 indexed pages on msn, i checked today i have 93. i had 2146 back links to day i have 1518.

Its the opposite with other SE i'm getting indexed more and getting more backlinks showing up.

    whats going on with msn?

i'm using linkadage's metric checker, is it the tool i'm using? does anyone else have other tool they can recommend?

    Thank you in advance

MSN drops pages every so often. As long as your index page is there you shouldn't be worry because it may return soon.

And I just add that it seems that MSN has reversed it's rapid indexing and keeping pages on there index. One of my sites had 600 pages in their index for more than 1 year and now it has been dropped to 60 pages for quite a long time and never goes back.

do u think their algo has become more sophisticated in indexing, like only indexing pages with unique content or dynamic content?

    Definitly not.
In order to give better results they have just decided to index less pages. If you ask people here hardly see a site with say 100k pages indexed in MSN no matter relevancy and unique contents.

In the past they would prevent spam by indexing only a few pages. It seems that they have rolled back to old days.

For example this site is one of the most relevant sites in website development. Command site:forums.digitalpoint.com in MSN returns around 70K but in google 700K.

I have seen drops in both pages indexed and backlinks for several sites I currently am working on. I doubt MSN even knows what is going on.

MSN is just plain jankedy these days. For some sites it's really quick to pick up and index content and for others its almost blind to new sites. Stupid MSN...
