I have a site that has consistently made $400. per month from adsense for the last 21/2 years until I added Google Analytics the other day. The absolute only thing that has been changed on the entire site in over 2 years is adding the analytics code. I normally receive 90% of the "clicking visitors" from MSN. I, of course, wanted to analysis the site so I could reproduce it in other areas. 3 days after adding analytics, MSN dropped the site from their search results. WTF is going on? 2 Years? and they drop me after adding GA? This is too coincidental to actually be a coincidence. Is there something about GA that could cause this?
Same happen to me, worst, msn only index my homepage now, not 14 page on it. of course drop my position. Maybe our site is like spam site for msnbot. notice that also upload wrong sitemap form. Read this: http://help.live.com/help.aspx?project=wl_webmasters&mkt=en-US I have trying to contact them by this addres: http://g.live.com/0HE_TRACKSTAR_ENUS9/76003 They send reply but not the key. stil writing now. Hope they back again.
You know now that you bring it up, I have a similar problem. One of my directories shows up on all search engines except Live. I have google analytics on it. Perhaps we need to contact google, something in their code could be causing this.
You're right xinnek That's happened with me also, one fo my websites http://www.free-legal-music-download.net was rank number 2 in msn for very important keyword "Free Legal Music Download" for more than 6 monthes and now I do not see it after adding link to install firefox. imagine.
WoW. This is shocking, but i am glad that i have never used Google Analytics. (I actually don't know what it is...but that is another story...) Although, most of my traffic is from google, so it would not make much diffference. Rob
Actually MSN had a major change recently and this is probably why your site dropped and not the addition of an analysis package coding.
id like to hear a follow up with MSN on this, i was just about to add gogoel analytics, glad i saw this thread.
Geting GA on your site is like giving Google the key's to you house: why would you give Google more information about your site than they already have?
I do not use GA, not sure what it is either. I actually came here to see if others are having the same problem as myself and it sounds like it. With in the last few days all of a sudden... blam.. my rankings using the keyword tracker and other tools has dropped WAY down if not completely out for MSN. I do have google AdWords though so I wonder if this is MS's way of trying to beat Google... If that is the case.. word to MS... Google Luck Jon
I dropped out of MSN completely a few days ago. MSN bot would hit my robots.txt file then leave the last two days. Then very early today MSN bot crawled over 200 of my pages, and my listings have returned to normal. This is quite normal for MSN. Be patient and maybe your listings will bounce back as well.
The reason can also be of MSN not liking the insurgence of Google analytics. I think you were better of with the analytics as long as you were getting in the bucks.
I added GA to my site nearly one year ago, today is is ranking well on a number of keyword terms. Maybe it just needs time for things to get back to normal?
thats bs; pretty much all companies that rely on the internet use google analytics, and they are still there on msn. if i look at this sourcecode, i wonder why it was on msn at all....
I've had GA since 2006 and MSN hits have only been going up for me. Still nothing like Google hits, but ranking #2 for me.
Msn has change their algorithm, it might be the reason and not the analytics. I have 4 entries in an seo competition, page 2 and 5. Now they are nowhere to be found.
