How often is MSN reworking its algorithm, I haven't seen much flucuation in the rankings in quite some while. Given they just launched the new site not too long ago, I'm expecting it'll be awhile.

It all depends on the competitiveness of the KW and how well optimized your site is for MSN's algo.

MSN algo? It seems to be similar to an old Google algo, before all the latest filters Google has developed.

My rankings go up one day, go down next - doesn't seem a whole lot different than Google or Yahoo to me - I think the basic search engine algorithms are becoming similar (?)

My observation is that the more competitive the search term the more shifting in the SERPs.

From what I have learned of the MSN algo, it is mostly about onpage seo and keyword density levels.

MSN is constantly changing yes, and for the better IMO.

We also need to remember, that MSN, like Google and others, are running several indicies so it's not unlikely to see changes daily, especially as they experiment and develop what they intend to become a stronger foothold on the SE market with spam-free results.
