With Yahoo's stock price struggling the pundits on CNBC were talking about the possibility of Yahoo being aquired by Microsoft in the future. It's a distant possibility but would surely change the landscape us webmasters are working in!

Yes indeed it would. Microsoft already has money to purchase yahoo so dont be to surprized if it happens soon. Remember one name Bill Gates.

They could certainly pull it off with a secondary, but I wonder if it's worth it.

Yahoo and MSN are rivals, there is no way the management would aprove it, and a hostile takeover is unlikely even if Yahoo stock keeps dropping, although stock is going down they are still in very good health. Yahoo has some tricks up their sleave and will bounce back.

As for AOL thats a sinking ship, whoever buys AOL will definately get a 5-10% boost in market share but even if Microsoft, Yahoo, AOL, and Ask Jeeves all combine they wont rival Google at its current bid, I think that if anything they will stay split in order to keep more people away from Google.

Just because they have the money to do so, doesent mean they can do so, Bill Gates has enough money to buy half the countries in Africa, but they arent for sale.

Hostile takeover is unlikely because "they are in good health"? I'm not following your logic.

I meant to say that even though Yahoo is not number one they are still a major player, and are doing pretty well. The stakeholders are currently happy with Yahoo and thus any kind of bid from MSN would be rejected, hostile or formal.

stockholders are happy with Yahoo? They have been doing well? Where are you getting your info?

Their stock price has been dropping, they are losing marketshare to Google, they are showing no growth, advertising rates are down and they are about to get a new CEO..

where do you see Yahoo doing well? I'm a stockholder and I'm certainly not happy.

YHOO is NOT doing well. I'd like to know where this info is coming from as well.
