It looks okay. Don't know why anyone would switch from Google/Yahoo/MSN. You should invest in a decent designer too.

Thats odd. I understand most of your comment except the part about a designer. Part from the logo (we've not got one yet) we've had mainly praise for the design. I'll keep your comments in mind. Cheers.

Just had a little look and did a couple of searches. I really like it. The SERP is great. Top Job. Bookmarked too.

Your server is very slow. What HTTP service are you running? And what are the specs of your server? It's SO slow.

It's a basic Apache Service serving the main backend. I see no reason for it to be slow, for me it's at least as fast as Yahoo. http://mse360.com/new.php?myloc=&main=&search=Example&button=Search you might of caught me uploading some files and thus it stalled? We've have comments on the speed being good. I'd love to try and solve why it's slow for you :)

Wow... this is BOSS... Yahoo! ;)

If you are looking for bloggers.. go to reviewme.com or some place like that.. pay them to review it and you are good to go.

As for the speed issue.. that can be solved by hosting this on a dedicated server.. rather than a shared reseller hosting account. You can also recompile the CPanel to not have so many unnecessary mods installed and use mod proxy. But, you can't do that when you don't own the server you are hosting on, which is what you appear to be doing.

If you are serious about this... you would have at least a balanced cluster of 5 servers with 2 mysql and 3 lighttpp. This would be sufficent to handle a fair amount of traffic for most search engines.

When you are ready to invest, I can have those 5 setup and ready to go for you complete with local backbone and 500MB uplink.

    Good luck! :)

Ok, an interesting post but I feel compelled to highlight some things. Regarding dedicated server, indeed a full scale rollout will be done when we will feel it’s at a point where it requires it. At current the speed is not stopping people from testing the search engine, and that’s the important part of an alpha release.
I personally have plenty of search engine management experience and to run a cluster search is indeed a attractive design, but one that I don’t feel we will be following.

The websites Fred indexes goes into a cloud rather than a cluster (Linux Suse to be precise). But what your suggestion is unfesable. Sure we can go all guns blazing and have 5 Dedicated Servers awaiting traffic, or we could slow upgrade as the site gets more popular. A 500MB uplink would at current give about each user 400MB of speed \ p\v\h so it’s a little off what our goal is.

    Thanks for your feedback,
    Daniel.

Thank you for the offer Searchia, but it's not something I could see helping us. Afterall competition is good! That being said feel free to pop me a PM, I might be able to code you a new script for your search engine running of our API.

We launched a new feature last night called Community Results. These are results recommended by users for certain key words. For example if a user searched for Google Browser a user has suggested Googles Chrome, http://mse360.com/new.php?myloc=&main=&search=Google+Browser. We hope the addition of user submitted results will make it that bit more relevant. After all robots are as bright us Humans.. yet!

Interesting design. I searched one of my own sites NorCalCars and I like the results. You showed a bunch of the pictures from my site, including ones from my subdomains and blog. And on the other side a few of my blog posts. (all the search results were relevant also)

I could see where this might be an interesting way to search. I'm going to book mark this and see how it works when I have some real searches.

Alright, to be truely honest with you ( not to offend anything but just for better help in the future ) but, the design doesn't look that good and the logo is very basic which the little shape is in the basic photoshop shapes, at least you should edit it a bit and the colors are not as good. Please take my opinion in consideration and don't think its to put you or your site down.

Infekted, if you weren’t honest how we would ever improve? Thanks for your great feedback and indeed I understand the design is simplistic and the color style may not be to everyone’s taste. I am now working on getting a better design. I hope over time you will see these improvements! Adacprogramming good to hear your going to bookmark it. We’re still in an alpha stage at current, but we’ve got plenty of improvements coming real soon!

Hi, looks like you've put some time into this. Alot better than some of the script based sites with a text based logo slapped above the search field.

Just a question though, are you using the yahoo API to get your search results?

Job well done! If you are looking at a better CPC solution than adsense send me a PM. We publish ads for search for a lot of smaller search engines also.

    Cheers,

    Alex

No we're using a mixture of methods, including results added by the community http://mse360.com/community.php and our own bot (Fred). We also use external providers but Yahoo is at current not one of them.
