MS Office or other office program?

What office program do you use? Personally I use OpenOffice.org. I find it much better than MS Office and it's free :)

Yes that's another reason I like OpenOffice.org. It's also available for eComStation and OS/2 if one so desires.

I use both Open Office and MS Office (because I need to). Open Office is very nice for most users.

What are the advantages of Open Office over MS Office? Is it worth getting Open Office if I already have MS Office?

    OpenOffice - Windows, Linux, Mac

    Perfect! :D

but hold on; if you want to run OpenOffice on Mac, try out the actual mac version; NeoOffice! ;)

I used Microsoft Office 2003 since I purchased that version when it came out. If you want a free solution, then get Open Office. I do not recommend getting Microsoft Office 2007 since it probably costs a lot. If you want that version, then wait a few months and the price should decrease.

MS Office 2007 is definitely expensive. If you feel the need to pay for a word processor suite then you might want to try WordPerfect or GoBe.

Lotus Symphony is going to be released as a free suite too so you might want to look into that one.

I have no choice but to use WordPerfect at my work and I complain about it all the time but, I guess, it's really not that bad. Printing in WP can be tricky because it spools it's own stuff but once that's sorted out it's not so bad.

I put OpenOffice on both my computers. A very good software, but a huge download if you are on dial up. I am happy with it. Lots of great features, such as a substitute for Excel. I use OpenOffice to make pdfs and more.
    Thanks,
    Alton
