Do you think creating a website for mp3 search is illegal in usa ?? No files are stored on the server but we only provide a search box to find the mp3s. is it illegal ???

If you are linking to downloads yes you are infringing on copyright and it is therefore illegal.

If you want to do it get hosting off the coastline somewhere. There are no laws on international waters. And you can also look into what 3rd world countries people are running the torrent sites out of. Like look at Piratebay(dot)com

Except that servers that host websites are located in areas governed by nations, technologically you can't have your site being hosted on some boat in the middle of the ocean. Also just because your site is hosted in a nation with more liberal copyright laws won't prevent you from getting sued/in legal trouble.

You can't stream download or do basically anything with the music unless you the have the copyright owners permission. You don't own the intellectual property rights to the music.

I think yes. Streaming = Downloading? Im not sure but the only difference is you don't get to keep what you stream but still basically it's downloading.

I think its illegal, but then again, sites like seeqpod.com (hosted in USA) don't seem to get taken down.
The DMCA does give you some protection; as long as you respond to take down requests by taking the files they want off your index, you should be ok.

The short answer is yes, you can do it under the correct circumstances and with the correct legal precautions. But it's fraught with legal problems. I would advise staying away from it... Find an easier way to make money...

Too strict laws . It doesn't help the music industry to grow.
what is the difference of hearing on line and download ?
If you find a place to hear mp3 online, it is very easy to download.
