Hello, I would like to start MP3 downloads business on my personal website. My plan is to sell various MP3 and albums - depends on what user wants and advertise new trends. I need it for radio station which is showing whats playing at the moment and at the same time would like to give user a chance to buy the song which is playing. As we: a) dont want to host any mp3 on our server b) and to provide commercial service where user buys mp3 c) need big database of albums and artists what first steps should be? a) Are there any MP3 resellers? b) Who should i contact with regarding royalties c) Who has database containing artist/albums information? Biggest problem what we need quite big database as our radio plays various music. Next thing - who are selling mp3 and how to resell them? Any advice or tip on this would very appreciated. Any link/e-book/video to share regarding this would be highly appreciated. Have a good day
Doesn't itunes have some sort of affiliate program so you can click buy this track? Yep, quick google and up it came: http://www.apple.com/itunes/affiliates/ It would be the legit, safe path to take.
i agree with sarahk, affiliates are definitely a good idea. i did a google, and came up with: http://www.dmwmedia.com/news/2007/10/17/amazon-mp3-store-offers-20-commission-to-affiliates It might not be what your after, but i would point out that if someone is buying music they might be reluctant to buy from you direct. I dont know anyone thats ever brought music from just some website, they usually either buy from itunes or other reputed companies (or just download it for free. ) You can always start out with doing just referrals, and then later try to move into direct sales. But if a referral is 20% commission for little effort and the consumers are guaranteed that its legit then its a win win. The work involved with selling it directly for a higher cut could require alot of work and give low consumer confidence.
