tdm - it comes pre installed on the most distributed operating system for home computers?

Why would standard home users (such as average families) go out of their way to learn about, download and use something that they already have?

now we are all advanced computer users, especially advanced internet users so we understand the differences between the browsers and the technical info, your average Joe probably doesn't know that IE and Firefox are even called 'web browsers' (the number of times i heard ICT tutors ask students to 'open the internet' when referring to IE)

In my opinion Firefox is better then IE7.

But don't take my word for it. CNet has a battle of the browsers here.

The results clearly show Firefox as the superior browser.

IE is way better by a long shot. Firefox is ugly, full of memory leaks and isn't anywhere near as good. Microsoft all the way!

The only time I use IE is when I cut and paste from an html table to excel, or when a site looks funky to me, I check to see if there's compatibility issues.

Firefox is indeed the best browser. I'm using just about all the opensource software now...Forget Microsoft Office, get OpenOffice!

Firefox by a big margin. I only use IE if the website works in IE only ! ( some unfortunately do .. ) ...firefox had tabs way earlier .. and the add-ons are a lot ( which I have not explored yet )

excuse the cheap pun but the fox burns explorer in to ashes.

just the tab in one window ability makes it better. and as a person who tries to use as little microsoft products as possible you can beat it.

If something doesn't work or display properly on IE, open it in Firefox and it's usually good. It is my opinion that firefox is better.

That being said, I usually use Firefox most of the time, but i think you really need both installed so you can fall back on the other one if the browser you're using at the moment is giving you problems. - That is extremely important if you work in the computer industry, web design, content management, copywriting, programming). Sometimes a site looks 100% perfect in one browser and when you go the the other browswer it's completely jacked up!

Firefox is my choice as well. Implements well in Linux on the PS3.
