The king of all the internet. (other than Google)

    Links and Content.

I know that most of you guys know this, but for those that do not, let me tell
you how powerful links are. I began my website, Hardgainer Online on August,
23rd, 2008. That's about 10 days ago. My niche is not very competitive,'
however, I still knew that it was and still is going to take some work to get on
    page one of Google.

When I first created my site, I was on page 20 for the term hardgainer. I slowly
worked my way up the rankings. Just yesterday I was at the bottom of page
two. Today, I have moved up 4 spots. I hope to be at page one by the end of
the week. This is 10 days after beginning my site. After I get to page one
for the term 'hardgainer' I plan on going after other terms also. Terms that
are searched more often, and have more competition. I haven't decided
what keywords to select yet. I still want to get on page one for the term
hardgainer. I'll just have to continue to build links and go from there.

Anyway, I don't really know why I posted this. It'd be cool to hear
your stories and how long it took you to move up in the SERP's. What did
you have to do to get there? How long did it take? Things like that would
    be cool to hear about.

I moved up in serp when I realized that you must have continual relevancy throughout your site and the sites you link to. :)

I don't mean to discourage you, but you need to be aware that Google will often give new sites a temporary boost in the rankings - presumably to give them a chance to attract traffic and links. This effect lasts for a few weeks. Since your site may be benefitting from this situation, it's an indication that you're doing things right. But don't be surprised or discouraged if your rankings fall suddenly in a few weeks. It doesn't mean you've done something wrong. Its just how Google works these days. If you keep adding fresh, original content to your site and adding links from other well-ranked sites, you'll do fine. Good luck!

Yes, if sites are relevant to the content, the links works better.

Add Fresh Unique content, avoid sites who are doing link whoring, Get links from websites that have less number of Outbound links and higher PR.... see the effect...for SERP
