Moving to another server - advice need

    Well I have to move my SMF forum to another web host. Whats the best way to do with all attachments and member uploaded avatars ?

    Also like to know if there thing i should keep an eye on.

    Well, that obvious ones would be to make both a file backup AND database backup. I don't think there is much else to worry about, from my experience. As long as you restore everything properly, you shouldn't find any problems.

    use your current control panel to generate a home backup. move it to the new server and extract it. import your database, tweak a few settings and your all set.

    Just backup your folder or home as well as SQL database. Members attachments and avatars will be saved together, don't worry :D

    I have forum in a subdomain so home backup would take subdomains too ? Also when I restore the home back do i have to first setup the subdomain ?

    a home backup gets everything in the home directory, which includes all public folders. restoring it will put them back in the same order as before.

    Ok I d moved everything and fixed the database. Now it doesn't know any of main menu links Also gives a message at bottom. Haven't modify files at all.

    make sure ALL your files made it over, your missing the copyright in your forum files. double check to be sure.

    I re uploaded themes folder and problem is still there.

    yeah I did still there were things missing here and there. at end I had to uploaded the theme again as a new theme and made it default theme.

    Now it seems some pluging are not working. I guess i have to unstalled those plugins and reinstall them.
