Moving sites to another host - Need help

What's the best way to move sites from one host to another host? Both hosts have whm (for reseller account) and cpanel (probably different versions).

Also, if someone is offering this service for a reasonable price (i.e. really cheap), please post or send PM.

    Thank you in advance.

It's not that hard really, just copy all the files in your webspace to the new server and if it's a database-driven site, copy the database too, buy exporting or creating a backup on your current host and restoring that backup on the new host.

It is simple to move hosts.

Step 1. Upload web to new host.
Step 2. Change DNS with your registrar and wait for it to propogate.
Step 3. After a few days take down original site.

    Good luck.

    check out websitemovers.com

I suggest you to use some Digital Point member service as they will charge much less than the site I mentioned above.

Just place your requirement in the buy/sell forum

If there are scripts and DB's involved you might also need to create the DB on the new server, export and import the data, change the DB name, host name, ect. Though most use "localhost" not all do.

    Am I wrong about this???

localhost host in a database are in effect if the database server is hosted on the same physical host and localhost host must be replaced by an ip if the database server is hosted to another server.

Well it's is some sort of security per se of the database application to recognized certain ip as the allowed host that will connect to them. Thus prevention ip unauthorized connection.

    Hope it Helps

You can get your new host to do the migrate. There is a function in cpanel which can do server to server transfer...You need to supply them information of the account only.

    That's simple :)
