Moving sites from HostGator account to a new dedicated server

I've had all my sites on a shared HostGator account and since some of the sites were getting a lot of traffic HostGator suspended them a couple of times for consuming too many resources and I've decided it's time to get my own dedicated server. The new server is not from HostGator and since I'm a newbie in managing servers I am wondering which is the best way to move sites from this shared account from Hostgator to the new dedicated server?

I have around 50 sites on the account and moving them one by one by downloading files and uploading them to the new server could take me even 2 days and I'm not too interested in that.

Did you decide to go with an unmanaged server? Sounds like it. Might want to consider going with a managed provider that can offer you help, vs the cheapest one out there. Assuming HG using cPanel and you also got cPanel on your new server, do a backup from one to the other.

Does your new server come with a control panel? It is a lot faster to just take the information from the HG server, to your new server. You should make sure that the server is setup and ready to take accounts though, prior to starting to move things over. If you need a hand, or more information, just let me know.

If you don't know to manage server then you should go for managed server. You can also search for someone who can manage server for you. Moving sites manually can be tedious task but you have total control. You can also try backing up sites in bunch of 5-10.
