Moving MySQL tables from forums to forums

I have a question that I wouldn't know the answer from even if it were very clear,

I have someone elses domain and we are rebuilding that website. We are moving the forums of that domain over to a myBB forums domain which has a new database and the other forums were not built in myBB... I'm not quite sure what php forums they are but I want to transfer the database over to myBB is that possible? Is it hard to do?

actually its hard if the database's table' are not the same.. are you using forum frameworks??

It is hard to move forums from different softwares into new databases... you would need an expert I believe. Databases DO have different tables and names.

Okay someone try this and tell me how it goes. I will get access to the database that needs to be copied over tomorrow if anything...

MyBB has a merge system for converting some forum software to MyBB.

 

i can answer this, i need one answer, from which forum software you are moving to MYBB>>
for ex if you are moving from PHPBB to MYBB, there are appropriate convertors available, try to convert it using them, and include the appropriate prefix..
for ex.. if you are converting from VB to MYBB< you must include the prefix MYBB

I had planned to copy over the forums database and move it over to a new fresh site but I figured it's not worth it. The forum posts are old and of no value. I believe I understand now how to convert this if I really needed too. Thank you everyone,
