Moving mysql database help?

Discussion in 'General Business' started by lorien1973, Apr 4, 2005.

Anyone good in MySQL? I am trying to move a database from one host to another today and having major issues (meaning I'm an idiot I think).

Anyone have time for a quick installation of a SQL dump into the new database? I'll pay for time/services, of course.

I'd kill to get this done today. Thanks!

Unless you're using full relational tables, all you have to do is copy the data files from the data directory from one computer to the other. I've done it many, many times.

Generate a script of your database and run that script in your new host phpMyAdmin mySQL Database Engine.

can't you just backup the data from cpanel and then restore it on the other account?

    exactly fryman!
cpanel should have the required tools to backup & restore
... as long as they're using cpanel
