I am thinking about moving my site ukscrambles.com to a new domain ukscrambling.co.uk as i do not appear to rank well in Google.co.uk although i do very well in .com for all my search terms coming on the first page and even No1 for many and many page have pr -3-4

The problem is, is that i did not think properly before setting this up and did not realize that .com's do not work will for uk sites within Google.co.uk. So my site is not ranking at all well in google uk.

if i do move this site will i get penalized by google for duplicate content ? i will not take down the .com for about 1 month until, the new site gets up and running or should i just put a redirect on .com to .co.uk.

Any help and suggestions on what is the right way to go about this would help
    thanks

Yes, This is usually the case, You dont have to get rid of the name all together, you can buy the .co.uk and just park the .com name on the same site. I think what mostly also tends to happen is that you will get more pushed up throught the rankings on google.co.uk if you have alot of trusted links from .co.uk sites
