I currently have a blog set up at the url: http://www.mysite.com/blog how do i either move it to http://www.blog.mysite.com or just to http://www.mysite.com? Cheers for any help given.
1. a redirect would do that job 2. I have my blog same ( mysite.com/myblog ) and see zero disadvantages but plenty of advantages in having my blog in a folder rather than in the domain root advantages are among many: - it leaves me full creative freedom to add OTHER flat file sections to my site - an dI do so MOST successfully I see NO SINGLE advantage in having a blog at domain root UNLESS you know for sre that all life long you never get more creative or more productive than your blog allows. imagine one day you add a - photo gallery - howto section - forum - cooking recipes section ... how would you place such sections ? a site can/should be treated like a lifetime lasting ever growing platform with a strong index page leading into strong sub sections - all adding to the total popularity / PR and revenue / benefits from the site as a whole. IMO a blog is but ONE PART of a site - a very powerful part but only PART.
Assuming you're using WordPress, under Options tab: In the field marked "WordPress address (URL):" put "http://www.mysite.com/blog" In the field marked "Blog address (URL):" put "http://www.mysite.com" You may have to move your htaccess and update your permalinks. More info here.
Cheers SEOpaw. Also - would all the links pointing to this site be useless now, could I add a redirect etc?
nice blog, i love the solid color what we can do here is follow my easy steps 1. backup or export your SQL file of wordpress 2. create a subdomain in cpanel name "blog" 3. download all your images from folder blog and download also your theme 4. install wordpress using fantastico in cpanel 5. upload all images and theme on it 6. in wp-admin, change template in presentation 7. import your wordpress sql file do you think you can do this? or you need technical guy to do it for you?
I should be able to do that. Thank you very much for the details. Will this effect any backlinks I have pointing to the blog?
