    ok heres my situation.
my current host is absolutely dreadful, slow loading the server im on is so obviously oversold.
    anyways.
the current server i am on just has cPanel no WHM.
the new VPS im getting has WHM and cPanel.
now how do i transfer my forum and database's along with webmail.. etc.. all accross to my VPS using cPanel.
i can only find tutorials using WHM and using ports.
cPanel doesnt offer this kind of support.

another thing is how do i change my DNS setting with my domain.
my domain is hosted along side with my current host.
would it be wise to transfer my domain accross to godaddy or another domain hoster? while doing this whole VPS change.

thanks in advance hope you guys can help me.

When you get a VPS, you will get a new DNS too, which is customized for you. Once you have a new DNS, apply it to your domain DNS settings.

Yes, I suggest you move your domains to either Godaddy or Namecheap.com (preferred).

Back up all your public_html files and MySQL databases. These are all you need during the migration from shared to VPS.

Knownhost.com helped me do all these things free of charge when I had a terrifying experience with an oversold Shared Hosting.

Once you have the VPS and WHM installed, you need to install cPanel from WHM. Then add a new Cpanel account in WHM.

If you are confused and not sure what to do, just consult Knownhost.com. I have been grateful to them for helping me out during the transfer of my sites.

ok here is my only problem.
my domain is still at my previous host, and im having trouble with nameservers.
aparently. i need to get my previous host to set up private namerservers with my new VPS IP address's.
then within my VPS i go to edit DNS zone and change the nameservers manually to the ones i have created through my new host.
    is this correct?
or am i doing something majorly wrong here

I am using WHM/CPanel. Are you using one?

You should be able to access your own domain and configure the Nameservers from there. Your new host or you set up the new private nameservers, not your previous host. After you set up a new private nameserver, go to your domain dns settings and make the necessary change from there.

Have you asked your VPS provider how to go about this? Maybe they can help you better.

For changing nameservers you must log to domain registrar control panel and make changes of dns servers. If you have own - put names and IP addresses. If hosting company provide DNS - put received from hoster records then - no IP needed.
