Moving from old (high ranking) website to new

We have an old website that is ranked near the top for products that we sell. Now, we have a new website at a different domain than the old one. My plan is to redirect customers from the old website to the old website while still keeping that high ranking result in google. What is the best way to do this? I was thinking about putting in one of those cheesy javascript advertisements that scroll down from the top and are really annoying so the customer can't avoid it. I've heard that google is very smart about this and will know to stop crawling that page if it sees anything about "go to our new page" or something like that. Much of our business originates from google, so we absolutely want to keep this high ranking result. What is the best way to do this?

    thanks
