My site was locate at nake domain e.g. domain.com. But I cann't use set up my domain to associate with google apps. In order to use google apps. I have to move my site from nake domain to non-nake domain. e.g www.domain.com my question is. What do I need to do at the Webmaster Tools account. Currently, what I have done is. 1. Change my perfer domain to www.domain.com 2. I added a website www.domain.com, and submited my sitemap to www.domain.com I don't know if I am doing it right or not. But. For now, there is 2 site. 1. domain.com with my sitemap submitted (this is nake domain site) 2. www.domain.com with my sitemap submitted as well (this is none nake domain site) Now I am checking the sitemap section on both site: it says "URLs in web index" is 0 while sitemap submitted about 100 posts. The sitemap on nake domain.com is getting error on its status. Is there anything wrong with that? Do I need to delete the old nake domain.com ? or do I need to delete the new non nake www.domain.com? Moreover, google stop index my new post and just moving some of my old post from domain.com to www.domain.com. Thank you for your reply.
Have you made a 302 redirect from your naked domain to non naked domain. If Not then do it. THere is no issue with verifying both version of domain. If you shared your domain then someone may helps you better.
I use blogger blogspot, so there is no need 302 redirect. Both top domain and www subdomain point to blogger, blogger do the re-direction. I saw there is error on the sitemap at nake domain.com. The url is not allow in the sitemap. I delete that nake domain profile. Now, my none nake www.domain.com got away from indexed. When I search my link as www.domain.com on google, there is only 1 link left. Phew. I don't know why. So, there is no one here know how to move from nake domain to non nake domain properly? especially for blogspot?
When you use custom domain in blogspot then there comes a option just below where you write your domain name "redirect doamin.com to www.domain.com". check this option and your naked domain will be forwarded to non naked domain. I have done it many times... Even you can setup you subdomain to blogspot. For further details, contact me ( and yes, I will suggest you free of cost ) Also the default blogspot sitemap is its Feed/Atom url, so submit it as your sitemap... you can also submit your sitemap like this one. /rss.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=1000 ( THere is no need to change it. Just copy and paste it in Google webmaster tool sitemap. or /feeds/posts/default?orderby=updated
I use blogger too, I both a domain then it redirect to my new domain coming from the blogspot domain after few days the old domain is gone and the new domain is showing.
@ Reliable-SeoServices: I use blogspot for 3 years now. Orginal I redirect www. to non -www. But now I want the opposite since, with the old way, I can not use google apps. I used blogspot redirect also. I added 2 sites 1 with www and the other without www to google Webmaster Tools already. Both with sitemap submitted, but the one without www, I already deleted the sitemap, the default sitemap(submitted by google) is getting error. as of right now, all my new posts still have not indexed either with www or without www. I even select perfer domain is with www on both site. Any idea? Do i do anything wrong? And why does blogspot use 302 redirect from non www to www?
Hi, You know redirection (302) is done at Google end and we don't have control over it. I too did the same query once, but didn't get answer from Google. You can ask you question at official Blogger help forum - http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/blogger?hl=en Blogspot allow only to redirect non www version to www version ( am I right ?) as it do not accept naked domain in its "custom domain setting". So how did you do so ? did you make some changing at your end.. ? When we verify both version of site in GWT, then sometime one version ( mostly non www version) got error and Google ask to verify it again. It has happen with my many domains. SO there is no need to verify both version. Anyway, When you didn't get solution to your problem, I will suggest your to take backup of your post/data and create a new blog and import your data and domain name to new blog. Everything will be same including your old url. It may solved your problem.
@Reliable-SeoServices: A long time ago, blogger accept nake domain. Why backup my blog will solve this problem? This problem is the indexing thing and duplicate content problem. Doing backup and re-open another blog will cause this problem. I'm not expert in SEO, but I know enough that google hates duplicate content.
You have misunderstood my explanation... I & everyone here no Google hate duplicate content. What I meant was that you may have issue with your templates or design ( I am not expert of website development). I just want to say that you can start a fresh blog with same content & url but with new template( having no error of indexing) and can remove old blogspot.com . Your site will be same & unique but with fresh template and codes.. It may solve your issue. I too suggest , you follow this only when you have no other hope. Hope You have got what I meant.
