Moving from Blogger(with Domain name) to Wordpress

I have a blog on Blogger which is redirected to my Domain name. I haven't even taken Hosting. Now, I'm planning to Wordpress. I created the same name in wordpress.com and transferred all the data from blogger to wordpress. Now, my questions are:

    1) How to transfer my XXXXX.Wordpress.com to my Domain name?
    2) Do I have to take up hosting services?
    3) I was paying NOTHING for hosting my site on Blogger, so will I get charged now on Wordpress?

    Please reply me asap. Thanks.

Wordpress.com - is a free. But how to transfer you "xxxxx.wordpress.com to your domain name" - let's presume you wanna buy your own domain - I don't know how?

But this was how I did mine year ago. I copy and paste every posts to my new domain. It's a little bit of works.

See to have xxxx.com in wordpress.com wordpress will take xtra $10 from u...per year......and then you can set your existing domain to point there name servers.....and they would redirect xxxx.wordpress.com to xxx.com and google PR will be intact...xxxx.wordpress.com would be free but you have to pay for pointing own domain to it...and no need of taking any hosting...

Also wordpress.com does not allow javascript, template editing and no advertisements...

I may help u with wp.com....either PM to bring me back to this thread..or i'll check on own...

How much space does it host for FREE? Will it work for ever without taking up hosting? If I want to insert I need hosing, I guess.

Now in the latest version, you can use the import feature. I did it when changing from blogger to WP.
I´m on a paid server BTW.

why do that? if you are switiching from blogger just go to www.xxxxx.com
don't use the free wordpress with a wordpress sub-domain. It is worth the hosting money to just have your own URL. it will pay off in the long run.

I too switched from blogger. much happier on wordpress.....

I have economy hosting with godaddy for $3.99 a month. i have had no problems so far. it is not that much $$$ and if you have adsense or anything on your blog you can pay for hosting with that. i really reccomend that you get a host...

But I need a platform for the blog, don't I? Wordpress has better features than blogger, so I wanted to move to wordpress and then apply mo domain name to it. How can you move to just a domain name without a platform(like blogger or wordpress) ?

You need to get hosting. it costs money, but it is well worth it. Like i said earlier, i pay $3.99 a month for godaddy and my advertising pays for that (and then some). it is really easy to install wordpress on godaddy. godadedy does it all for you...

    wordpress.com is a free bloghosting like blogger.com

    1) How to transfer my XXXXX.Wordpress.com to my Domain name?
as i said in my above post
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=3928823&postcount=5

    2) Do I have to take up hosting services?

    wordpress.com like blogger.com will host your site..no problem...u can upload images..etc...as u did in blogger.com

    3) I was paying NOTHING for hosting my site on Blogger, so will I get charged now on Wordpress?
They'll charge a $10 per year if you need to redirect example.wordpress.com to your own domain i.e. example.com

    Regarding Buying Extra Space
you need no space in wordpress.com as u can make any number of posts like u do in blogger.com and also u can upload images as u do in blogger.

What u can not do in wordpress.com
You can not edit the html of the template
no javascript in any post or any where
    no advertisements in your site

    Alternative
Wordpress has it's own blogging system which any one can install in any webhost so
take a web hosting->install wordpress software there->point your domain to that place

In this way wordpress.com does nothing and you own your blog completely and you can do whate ver u like..u may use any template anything...give ads like adsense...and edit template...but here you need a webhsoting with some space supporting php+mysql.

Note: wordpress.com and wordpress softwares are different..wordpress.com is a free blogging site like blogger.com but wordpress is a blogging software which u can install in your host to have a blog...(like http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/ where he's not using wordpress.com but has installed wordpress on it's own server/host...)

so what do you want wordpress.com with own domain or wordpress software in your host...?

    you have two options

either pay 10$ a year and get hosted on Wordpress.com with all the basic features

or you to host your blog yourself on a server and point the domain to it..
