Hi All, I am planning to move from xxxxx.blogger.com(this is 1.5 yrs old) to xxxxx.com using the custom domain feature offered by blogger. This custom domain feature let you host your domain with blogger itself ( though of course you will not get features and independence what you get at a full fledged web host, but still for my small site it's enough) I would like to know what can be the repercussions --short term and long term-- in terms of: Google PR? Search Engine Traffic? Also it would be great...if someone can throw light upon how to make that transition smooth.
I've done this a couple times when I was on Blogger (I'm a WP user now but still have a couple of Blogger blogs) but your PR won't be there after you switch to your custom domain. Though, your search engine traffic will only because Blogger has an option of directing your xxxxx.blogspot.com traffic to your custom domain. But when you switch over to your custom domain, you should basically kiss most of your 1.5 years worth of stats goodbye (Technorati, Alexa, PR, etc). I wrote about this a few months ago, you should check it out... it's "Buy your own domain now before you regret it!"
Thanks WhoJayBe...nice points there...btw How much time it took to get back PR/Alexa rank to your "new" blog? Also, If by any chance you run adsense (any other CPC/CPM network), did you find any drop in revenue that time? Waiting for some more views from others. Thanks
