Moving Domains to New Hosting Provider

I was going to give up on the whole internet marketing thing and had not paid HostGator for the last couple of months. I am planning to give it a go again with a different approach, and I have found a much better deal on hosting. Is it a big deal to get my domains moved to another host without paying HostGator? Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

All you need to do is change the domains name servers to the new hosts nameservers.

Yes if it's just changing domain names.

If you have files on your old hostgator account that need to be moved over to your new host do a full cPanel backup of your hostgator account. Then have your new web host restore the backup for you. This is assuming your new web host uses cPanel for it's control panel. Who are you planning on moving to?

Yes, you can transfer them to a new domain registrar by asking them for a EPP Code to transfer or you can just update the nameservers.

Are your domains registered with Hostgator too? If so, I don't think that they would give you EPP Code without receiving payment. If the domains are somewhere else then you do not have to worry about moving to any other host. Once you have signed up, they will give you DNS info, change the domain DNS accordingly and you are good to go.

I'm confused. You have domains with Hostgator, you've stopped paying them and now you want the domains back? I imagine they are going to want their money and I don't blame them. How hard is it to cancel something that you don't need anymore?

I don't thin any web hosting provider would welcome you as customer after you made this statement. If you own money to any provider for any service, you'd better pay off.

if your domain is registered with 123 reg or host daddy or any other company apart from hostgator than its very simple,, just go to domain control panel change name server and bang your done!!! takes 24 hours before your page will show up

Yeah, but if you paid for a full year (or more) for the domains, why should the hosting end of it matter? It belongs to the buyer of the domains, not for the webhosting company to dangle it around like a carrot
