Moving Domains To Godaddy

I just bought a domain from someone who registered it on 1and1. How can I move it to Godaddy? Do I have to use their $14.95 concierge service? Or is there a different way? Keep in mind I am not in any hurry so a day or two wait is not an issue.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

 

I have heard that 1and1 can be difficult to work with.

If the domain is unlocked you should be able to go to Godaddy and request the transfer. It will cost you an extra year of registration.

I fyou do not have acess to the account ant 1and1 the other person will have to approve the transfer.

fyi- I recently moved my domains off of godaddy, due to lack of services.
Im not going to post who I moved them to (pm if interested) as I dont want people thinking Im pumping a hosting co or an affiliate, I just think godaddy blows when it comes to cpanel et al..

why would you ever want to move to godaddy? Do you like navigating confusing UI's and fighting your way through ridiculous over upselling.

 

I believe the OP is talking about domain registration and you are reacting to GoDaddy's hosting service. They are definitely low rent as a host...mixed reviews as a domain registrar.

Ferrrarislave. Godaddy is one of the best as a domain registrar. As a hosting company there is a good deal of room for improvement. IMO it always best to keep the two services apart from each other anyway.

I have active accounts at two other registrars. The user interface and service levels do not even come close to matching Godaddy. If and when you buy something there is always a check box for fast checkout. Otherwise there will be several screens trying to sell you something.

I dont host with Godaddy just have my domains there. I did the transfer - still waiting on 1and1 to realese the domains.

 

i have done several transfers to godaddy from various hosts it has all gone fairly smoothly.

 

I have a couple of sites on GoDaddy. Thanks for posting this as it reminds me that I must move them somewhere else....As has been previously stated, GoDaddy is great for buying domain names but I would never dream of using them again for hosting.
