    Hi

I'm a little mixed up about this one.

1st. I would like to move my domain to a different server on the same host. Im assuming the IP will change. Will that change my google ranking?

I dont think I should be doing the 301 redirect because its still the same domain with same address. Its just a different IP and diff server. Please shine some light on this for me.

2nd. What if I change the hosting company? Do I still have to do any redirect not to loose any google ranking?

    Thankx. Mark.

if done properly (i.e. no significant down-time), nobody including Google will notice - and a redirect is not needed.. just pickup and move the whole thing and update the DNS settings..
I've done both with no issues at all.

You should be fine. If google does redo rank it will be the same after they see the site is same one and has the same links to it.

    Mark,
You should have no problems with Google for just moving the site. I have had to change a fre of my customers sites IP's when some lame person bound to my clients IP and was routing bounced spam through my server.

I do, however, caution about changing your whois information, that will definitely get your site's rankings impacted. I changed the whois on a 7 year old domain that was PR5 to my new company information and in the last official PR update that site dropped to PR3 :-(

Hi, can anybody offer info on updating DNS settings when your host has blocked your control panel access?
