Moving but how will it effect indexing?

    Hello,

I will be moving my forum from the root folder to either a sub-domain to a sub-folder.

How will it effect my pages getting indexed?

Will they get re-indexed quickly or something?

I dont think it will as long as you have a link from your homepage to the forum.

It will be considered as duplicate content and in some cases your site may be banned from google .. You should not move the pages with same content !!

if you are moving from your root to sub folder
    www.d.com to www.d.com/subfolder/

They will not be considered as duplicate content as long as you do not have two identical physical files or you leave the copy of all the files in root.

So the better option is move the files (if you want) and dont have same files in the root.
If possible redirect the .com/file1.html to .com/subfolder/file1.html

otherwise you will loose the traffic that comes from the search engine results (which will have the old pages).

Also submit your new site map and other basic stuff using webmaster tools.

~~When you said MOVE, I assume cut and paste and not copy and paste :D~~
