Moving away from Hostgator

    Hello Dp'ers

I am planning to move away from Hostgator to some other hosting.

I have a reseller package and I pay 24$ per month.

So any quick thoughts about other reseller based hosting which is cheap?

Money is the concern and of course stability and uptime.

    regards
    Soulz

You better go with a VPS , you can get it for less than how much you pay for a reseller account , with a VPS you can create Unlimited Transfer/ Unlimited Disk space packages , and you can not do with with a reseller plan

    Good Luck

If you plan to go for VPS, please increase your budget a little bit to get good configuration, fully managed with cpanel /whm from a good host.
May be you want to add R1soft backup solution with your VPS, that will also increase vps price.

Everyone seems to be jumping in with "try this", "use us" but no-one is asking you some obvious questions.

I don't have any association with Hostgator and I've no idea if they are any good or not, but they seem to have a good rep on these forums. So, the question is WHY are you wanting to move away from them? Is it the cost? $24 per month isn't a lot for what they offer including their reliability - again, from what I read, not personal experience. Is it because of a reliability problem? A performance problem? A resource problem? If stability and uptime are a concern then you have to weigh this against what you're willing to pay. I'd say that for $24 per month neither stabilty or reliability and good support could be reasonably expected. If you're looking for cheaper than $24 per month, then expect LESS of everything not more - except empty promises and foolish offers of unlimited stuff you will never be able to use.

Be realistic, don't keep chasing cheaper prices, and think about what you really need. Are the customers you resell to going to be happy with you if you save a couple of bucks per month but put them through the hassle of moving to a new provider and possibly give them a less reliable service.

Why leave hostgator? They are definitely hard to beat, and really have some great offers

Yes, vps is better, but you will need more time to manage your vps by yourself :)

I don't like VPS, (I have one and now I move to get a Dedicated Server), because VPS is junk (too similar at a shared hosting) especially if you run a website that require a huge amount of CPU or RAM like an aggregator or a game.
VPS is only a little better than shared hosting, but it cost a lot more... If you can buy VPS try for a Dedicated server, much more better!
