The best answer is to use an ftp client to move things from www/wordpress (or public_html/wordpress) to www (or public_html). You can do this by downloading the entire folder and then re-uploading the contents only into public_html (or www), then deleting the wordpress folder.

This is the safest way to do this.

    Hello,

Yes, you can do this using ftp. Either way, you can ask your host to move this folder if you are manged client.

    Too late!
It broke the site lol how can I change it now?

Ok I went to the wp_options database and changed the URL to the main domain, but now when I make a page I get,

    Not Found

The requested URL /difference/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Is your .htaccess present in new location? if not than copy it and try
or just turn off the SEF URLs
