Moving a Blog?

I have a question, if I am moving my blog to somewhere else, say I get my own domain...how do I do it if I have a blogspot blog? Should I just copy and paste all my entries and then delete my blogspot blog? Also, what software can I use for blogging on my own?

Is it better to use one of the existing blog hosting sites if I am trying to monetize my blogs? I know it is better for PR if you have your own domain but can you point your hosted blog to your own domain?

    dear anonforeverything,
I can understand you are having a blogpot blog. But in blogspot you can not move your contents. As they are hosting your blog for free they want you to be there and don't move the content. I think you can use adsense in these kind of hosted blog sites and monetize your blog. But there are lots of limitations and disadvantages. It's best you own your own domain and hosting. You will be having more flexibility in your blog monetizing.
To register a domain name and host your blog you can try
    http://www.hagiohost.com
They will provide you the solution you are asking. Moreover you can install blogging software like wordpress, textpattern in a click using their fantastico included in your Hosting Management System (Cpanel). And they have better support than other hosting Companies. Wish you good luck in monetizing your blog with http://www.hagiohost.com

Within wordpress there is an option to import blogspot/blogger blogs, I'm assuming that means each have an export option as well.

This may be a little sideways but how can a person export his wordpress postings to a new blog. Is there a way to migrate all of the posts into the new database?

You can just change the settings in Blogger to FTP the blog to your domain rather than have it hosted on blogspot.com .
Again in Blogger you can either FTP the blog posts to a directory on your own domain, or you can use the "custom domain" option that points your blog to your domain while it is still hosted by Blogger.

That's helpful and I think answers the question. I didn't know that.

    Thanks Nonny.
