Moving 3000+ pages, SEO Perspective

    Hi,

    My site is using wordpress and now I have around 3000+ posts. The site permalink was set to %postname%
    So now my problem is that there are 3000+ posts on example.com/wordpress/(xxxxxx)

    I am thinking about moving these to categories, I have 7 categories in which these posts are placed. I would like to move them to a permalink of

    example.com/wordpress/category(xx)/(xxxxxx)

    How will this impact my SEO, will there be negative effect like penalty etc?

    I am planning to use 301 redirect with the help of a plugin. Would there be any other easier way with htaccess?

    Please Advice.

    if you are moving pages by using 301 redirection rule.. then there is no issue in SEP perspective view..,

    That makes me ask another question, does it make sense doing this major move? I am doing so that I can move my site to root using wordpress, currently wordpress is in it's own folder.
